Meet Carol Duarte
While she may be the newest member of the Campus Life Safety and Regulatory Compliance Team, Carol Duarte is an experienced safety and compliance professional with more than 16 years of experience in the security/safety and healthcare industries. We recently sat down in with Carol to learn more about what inspires her.
Most memorable CUIMC moment?
I must say, the way I have been received by my fellow Facilities staff has been pretty memorable. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms, kindness, and respect; everybody treats me like I am family. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone from custodial and mechanics, to the communications team, all the way to directors and VPs. I am grateful!
Favorite thing about your current role?
As the site safety and compliance manager, I enjoy visiting the various on-campus construction sites to assist our project managers while complying with various regulations city, state, and safety regulations. No two job sites are the same, so I'm often kept on my toes.
What is your favorite thing about Washington Heights?
The diversity of the community.
Any hidden talents?
I used to be a basketball superstar. I played overseas, and for the Dominican National Basketball team.
What brings you joy/something that makes you smile?
My beautiful 7-year-old daughter. She reminds me why it's so important to work hard for your dreams. I want to show her that she can be anything she wants and that anything is possible.
How would you describe yourself in one word? Why?
Passionate. I invest all of myself in the things that I like to do or am responsible for-I always want to give the best of myself.
