Do you have any hidden talents?
I'm bilingual and I enjoy snowboarding and rock climbing.
Who has been a role model to you?
My father. As a first-generation immigrant from China, he raised our family using ingenuity, hard work, and determination. I strive every day to accomplish what he has. Growing up, I wanted to follow in his footsteps and become a businessperson. But after some time in the professional world, I realized I’m better suited for a role that requires a more technical background and skills.
Advice to your younger self?
Buy bitcoin.
What superpower would you choose for yourself?
To be able to freeze and unfreeze time.
How would you describe yourself in one word?
Neurotic (laughs). My parents taught me to aim high and never settle for “good enough.” That mindset shaped me into a detail-oriented person, sometimes a little too much. But I’ve learned to channel it productively. For me, a job well done brings me joy.
What is it like to build a building like the Vagelos Innovation Laboratories?
It's been great working with such a talented and multi-disciplinary team to put together this project. Many people underestimate just how complex even simple projects are, and it takes a village to make them work.
