Black Bldg. Vacuum System Temporarily Unavailable, TODAY, May 13
The vacuum system throughout the William Black Building is temporarily unavailable due to emergency repairs. We are working with a third-party vendor to restore service. At this time, we do not have an estimated completion time.
During this time, vacuum systems used to aspirate cell culture media in biosafety cabinets also are unavailable.
Per Environmental Health and Safety, investigators needing to withdraw media can employ an alternate manual approach using a mechanical pipetting device in the biosafety cabinet. Biosafety officers can be reached by email for consults at biosafety@columbia.edu.
We will provide additional information, including an estimated completion time, once that information becomes available. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve our facilities. For questions or concerns, please contact John Hession, plant superintendent, at jkh2149@columbia.edu.
