Meet Simon Orr
Simon Orr, compliance manager for Campus Life Safety & Regulatory Compliance, thrives on learning and building from the ground up. Inspired by his great-grandmother’s entrepreneurial spirit, he brings creativity, discipline, and a relentless drive to every project he takes on.
What is your favorite thing about your current role?
Having access to learn about all of the new projects happening here. I enjoy the process of building facilities from the ground up.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I am very good at drawing and sketching. I enjoy drawing anime and comic book characters the most. A few of my friends have even requested me to draw out their tattoo to present to the artist.
Who has been your biggest role model?
My great-grandmother was the best. When I was a kid, I lived with her in Jamaica. She was the first woman in the entire town to own her own grocery shop. She taught me how to be disciplined and strong-willed.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an NBA General Manager when I was younger. The process of building a team from the ground up to be successful has always intrigued me.
What superpower would you choose for yourself?
I'm not sure if this counts as a superpower, but I would love to be able to build my own Iron Man suit.
How would you describe yourself in one word? Why?
Driven. I always strive to learn, grow, and remain hungry. I make it a point to not settle.
What’s something that people would be surprised to learn about you?
I am a boxer and competed in 24 boxing matches without a loss.
